Dementias have become a major public health concern due to their increasing prevalence and mounting costs. Early detection of at-risk individuals can reduce suffering and family burden caused by the disease. Medications, behavioral approaches and caregiver support comprise an expanding array of care options. This symposium will offer practitioners an overview of emerging trends in both the interventions and ethics of dementia care. Nationally recognized faculty will discuss the characterization and treatment of the cognitive, behavioral and psychological signs and symptoms of dementia.
